What we do

Why choose AHS LAW?

  • Strategic, not reactive defence
  • Early intervention in investigations
  • Experienced representation at every stage
  • Clear communication and practical advice
  • Analyse the case from the outset and build a clear, structured strategy
  • Engage proactively with investigators
  • Prepare every case thoroughly for trial

Investigations

We represent clients in all types of criminal investigations conducted by:

  • Police
  • National Crime Agency
  • HM Revenue and Customs
  • Department for Work and Pensions
  • Local authority / Trading Standards

If you’ve been arrested, or you think that you or a friend or relative might be, we can help. The experience can be very stressful for the person concerned and their family, so having the right person on your side is crucial.

The Police (or other investigative bodies) will usually conduct an interview, under caution, after arrest or on a voluntary basis. At the interview, you are entitled to independent legal advice, which is often free under the legal aid scheme. It is important to obtain legal advice immediately so that a lawyer can assess the evidence, advise on all the options and be present when the interview takes place.

We provide an essential service to our clients of advice and representation throughout the investigation process, including attending at Police Stations when our clients are arrested and detained; interviews under caution, identification procedures, warrants of further detention and advise on rights relating to release on pre-charge bail.

Proceedings

We also represent clients in all types of criminal proceedings in the following courts:

  • Magistrates' Court
  • Crown Court

If you have been charged with a criminal offence, you will have been given a date to appear at the Magistrates’ Court. More serious cases are then sent to the Crown Court for trial or sentence.

Our lawyers will take the time to understand your case, review the evidence, advise you on the proceedings and discuss your options. We’ll arrange representation for you at Court, either by using our in-house advocates or by arranging an independent Barrister to represent you.

We act in a variety of cases:

  • Defending in all types of criminal cases: Murder, assaults, theft, burglary, possession and supply of drugs, fraud, firearms, robbery and driving offences
  • Defending clients who are themselves victims of violence, exploitation or racism
  • Defending in public order offences and individuals accused of involvement in terrorism
  • Appeals to the Court of Appeal against conviction and/or sentence.
  • Representing individuals seeking to overturn wrongful convictions where we are able, through investigation, research and making representations to the Criminal Cases Review Commission.

Regulatory & Other Proceedings

We can assist you with regulatory matters including:

  • Extradition
  • Health and Safety
  • Trademark Infringement
  • Tribunals
  • Inquests
  • Taxi Licensing

There are many cases which straddle criminal and civil law, some involve local authorities, the Health and Safety Executive, and various tribunals and inquests.

Appeals

We represent clients in Judicial Reviews, Appeals by Way of Case Stated and Appeal against Conviction and Sentence in the following Court:

  • Administrative Court/High Court
  • Court of Appeal
